AT War
Wow! What a great event! If it ends up being as awesome in the future, I think I may have a new winner for favourite event. Why? I'm not completely sure. Just that it was an amazingly relaxed, fun event at a great site with good weather. Actually, it was good enough that, even before it has definitly been decided that it'll happen again next year, every cabin and room, and most of the RV spots on site have alreay been booked for next year. Thinking of it, it was a lot like most of Shittimwoode's events - the same relaxed, happy but well-organized atmosphere. And really, what more can I ask for?
The drive up was entertaining, with interesting discussions and eventual ice cream. I had a warm, comfy bed in Nono's cavern, good conversation with the family, and a fire at night. I mooched some most amazing roast pork on Sat evening, then got some more to share. Fighting was fun, even if it was really hot and someone had the "great" idea to make us run up- and downhill over rocky ground in an untimed regen battle for 40 minutes. I did some ret and earned a chunk of bison steak for my troubles, and got to socialize, play hunker-down, and watch various and sundry play Spear the Beer at a sangria party until the wee hours of sunday morning (no, I didn't play - I stayed well out of the blast radius. Maybe next year, though). Finally, I got to see a bunch of people I haven't seen in a year or two, and now I'm chilling in Kamloops until I feel like busing home.
Long story short, it's been an awesome almost-end to my summer at home, and I'm finally starting to feel recharged and ready to get back to melting my brains in Grenada.
